Life in General

Lately I've been realizing how unique my life is here at Ihop. How many people get to wake up and spend 2 hours worshiping a real living God? And then get to hear 3+ hours of solid biblical teaching, and studying the movement of the Lord globally? And then get to spend 4 hours praying and meditating on the word of God?

Such a blessing. Thank you God! And thank you to all my supporters!

the word

Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified. 1 Thess 3:1

Dear friends,

Thank you so much for your prayers and support. After 2,000 miles of driving I am now in Kansas city, preparing for the internship at the International House of Prayer , which starts on the 8th. I was blessed with a great trip to Texas to visit Leah's family for Christmas, and a great experience at the Onething Conference here in KC. I worshiped alongside nearly 15,000 other believers and was blown away by some great teaching.

If some of you haven't had a chance to contribute yet, I still could use some more help. I could use both monthly pledges and one time gifts. More and more I am seeing the importance of what God is calling me to. With the growing injustice, depravity and influx of ideas in America, including Islam, Atheism, Mormonism, and Scientology we need people who can spread truth and righteousness. I don't believe the Church is currently prepared to deal with these things, and in fact there are statistics showing that Christianity is on the decline in America.

I am looking forward to my internship and further schooling here as preparation for my part in the restoration and rebuilding of the Church. That time may be far off but I am glad to have plenty of time preparing through prayer and study of the word, so that when my time in ministry comes I will be ready, willing, and able.

I still need around $500 for this internship and will have minimal expenses of $300 per month. My goal is to raise $1000+ per month so that I can have money to continue my schooling here. I am asking you to consider contributing monthly at any amount that you can. After my first six months I will be on volunteer staff and contributions will be take deductible.

I will have a new address soon, but for now checks can be mailed to:

Finances

Well, I leave in 3 days. And I'm still short on my finances. I actually needed around $2000 (I thought it was closer to $1500 but I had some expenses...) - I broke down and cried today about it, because I've been banking so hard on a miracle for this, and so far it hadn't happened. I have been praying so hard, and God has been reassuring me. It's so hard to trust sometimes. So today, I asked on of my close friends if how much he was planning on supporting me with. He said $1300. I was blown away. I was in the process of looking at backup plans: delaying the internship, selling my car, suicide (not really) -- and none of them felt right. I can't walk away from his plans, but what happens when things don't add up? Well then God steps in, I guess.

So I still need around $700-800 to move down there smoothly, so if any of you are reading this and want to support me, now is the time! And anything on top of that would be great too - you hear that God?

God is good, amen.

Crunch Time

Hey all!

Well, I'm leaving in 2 weeks! Oh my!

I will first be driving down to Te-has with Leah, and spending Christmas with her family. Meet the family + Texas = scary? Nah, I'm pretty pumped for it. Then from there we're driving to Kansas City, MO for the Onething Conference on the 28th. That finishes on the 1st, but I will be staying in KC until the program starts on the 8th. Phew, busy times.

I'm still trying to get my support raised, and need around $3000. So... if any of you are thinking of supporting me, give me a call

(21 Eight) 33 Zero - 11 Sixty Seven

- I would love to talk to any of you. Also, if you already know you want to support me, here's how! (it's so simple!)

Simply write a check out to David Andrew Gagne and mail it:

I apologize that it is not tax deductible, maybe in a year... I realize some of you may feel funny just writing a check out to me -- but hey, if you can't trust me, you shouldn't be supporting me anyways, right?

More to come on what's going on... stay tuned, and in the meantime, check out lookatthesound.com - I am a writer on that site.

My first support letter

A copy of my first supp0rt letter. If you want to get on my contact list, let me know.

----

Hey everybody,

In case you don't know, this is Andrew Gagne. Some of you are good friends, others just random acquaintances that I would love to get to know better. The reason I'm writing this to all of you is that I am embarking upon a life changing journey. In January I will be starting my training at the Forerunner School of Ministry (FSM - link). Those of you that know me well know that my passion for God drives my life. There is nothing else in this world that will satisfy me besides knowing Him and serving Him. It has been a long hard decision making process, but I feel strongly that FSM is the next step in this journey. FSM is a school dedicated to teaching the Bible in a context of prayer and relationship. I will be taking what I learn in the classroom to the prayer room and spend hours thinking, praying, and worshiping. I will be starting with a 6 month internship there, but would love to continue on toward the goal of completing a 4 year program in Apostolic Preaching.

Why is this important to anyone besides myself? Well, most people in Christian ministry in this country today would agree that this country is in rough shape. Not just morally, but spiritually. We have a country feeding their spiritual needs through materialism or false religions like Scientology. We are all so hungry for a real God, yet we are too hard hearted and rebellious to actively pursue what we know to be true. We are all partially to blame for this, whenever we pass up opportunities in relationship to the living God. Many have related our current condition to the conditions often described in the writings of the Prophets Isaiah and Jeremiah. In the book of Hebrews chapter 3 we find this warning:

So, as the Holy Spirit says:
"Today, if you hear his voice,
8do not harden your hearts
as you did in the rebellion,
during the time of testing in the desert,
where your fathers tested and tried me
and for forty years saw what I did.
That is why I was angry with that generation,
and I said, 'Their hearts are always going astray,
and they have not known my ways.'
So I declared on oath in my anger,
'They shall never enter my rest.' "

See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.

Given this situation, what must be done? Changing the hearts of an entire nation is not an easy task. We must first start with ourselves, and start in prayer. There is a prayer movement starting in small pockets all over the nation. This is interesting, because we all know that getting people to come to prayer meetings is one of the hardest things to do. At the International House of Prayer in Kansas City where FSM is based, they have a dedicated prayer room open 24 hours everyday, where you may find anywhere from 100-1000 people at any given time. And this is not the only one, there are Houses of Prayer springing up all over the country from all different church backgrounds with a common purpose: intercession for our country to lead it to revival.

Which brings it back to us. Will you join with me in prayer for our country? Will you pray for me as I train for this purpose? Also, consider supporting me financially to help me with my schooling and expenses. This is not a calling that "pays off" financially, and it only works with the help of others who believe in me.

If you are at all interested in hearing more about this, please reply to this message. If you would like to receive monthly updates via snail-mail, please include your mailing address as well. If you do not want to receive these emails, simply reply and let me know. Also, feel free to call me on my cell phone (218) 330-1167, I would love to talk to any of you.

The Grace of the Lord Yeshua the Messiah be with your spirit,

Andrew Gagne

History Part I

Throughout history God has worked through people to accomplish his will. In the New Testament they were called servants of Christ Jesus or slaves of the Messiah (1). This was a voluntary servant-hood, one which was not to be taken lightly (2).

Before I was born, my parents prayed that I would serve God. Throughout my life I have felt that God would use me. In my college years I struggled with this. I was pursuing a degree in computer science, thinking that it would make me successful and life would be easy. Also during this time, God was working inside me. He showed me how much I needed Him, and how much He loved me. He showed me the emptiness of self-gratification and materialism. I ended up surrendered to God and his path for my life. After this, I found I had little desire for my computer science degree, and that success would be difficult and unrewarding. I switched to study math because it was the next closest thing and I felt it would leave me with more options for wherever God would lead. At this point my future was a big question mark in my head.

My senior year was a tough one. I had a difficult breakup with a girl I was dating for nine months, and so many insecurities about my future that I didn't know where to begin. Through this time I relied heavily upon God, and spent hours in prayer, asking for direction. I was heavily involved with a christian campus organization called Chi Alpha, and also at Hillside Community Church. Through ministering in youth group and to other classmates I felt a spark inside of me. "This is what I was made to do", I thought.

During this time, I found myself frustrated that I couldn't spend more time doing ministry and in prayer because I was so busy with school and working. As I thought about the future, a 40+ hour a week job seemed like a trap. Why spend my entire life doing something of no worth? Is my life nothing more than being a slave my bills that never end? I'd rather die. Only through my time with God and sharing Him with others did I find fulfillment. I came to the conclusion that I had to go into full-time ministry, because I couldn't live any other way.
